On May 29th,In Grand Central, Pershing Square (Over the Bridge) there were hundreds of photographers, bloggers, Instagramers, and spectators were waiting for first Manhattanhenge of 2014. I was one of them and went to capture the spectacular Manhattanhenge. Sadly, due to the bad weather, the bloody cloud covered the golden sun. So we were unable to capture that golden and dramatic view of Manhattan. Now we might have to wait until July 12th for another Manhattanhenge day. Let’s hope weather will be perfect for that day.
You might be wondering what is Manhaattanhenge? Check this link. It explains very well.
To understand easily, It is a special sun setting day of summer when “when the setting Sun aligns precisely with the Manhattan street grid, creating a radiant glow of light across Manhattan’s brick and steel canyons, simultaneously illuminating both the north and south sides of every cross street of the borough’s grid.” Manhattanhenge gives rare and beautiful view of Manhattan.
Even though, I couldn’t get the golden Manhattanhenge view, I was able to capture some faces of photographers and spectators who were there. There facial expression says a lot about not having the Manhattanhenge view.
Hope to see you on July 12th.
